What to expect when you arrive

Your initial appointment will consist of a consultation explaining your diagnosis and treatment options. Occasionally for your convenience, a surgery can be performed the same day as the consultation for healthy patients not on blood thinners. This is especially true for healthy patients scheduled to have wisdom teeth removal under general anesthesia. However for those with a complex medical history, or those who are on blood thinners, a pre-surgical consultation will be required and a second appointment to provide treatment on another day.

Please assist us by providing the following information at the time of your consultation:

  • Your surgical referral slip (given to you by your dentist or physician).
  • Any recent x-rays if applicable – If your dentist or physician has taken x-rays you may request that they forward them to our office or you may pick them up and bring them to our office. If additional films are necessary they can be taken at our facility.
  • A list of medications you are presently taking.
  • If you have medical and/or dental insurance, bring your insurance card(s). This will allow us to help you process any insurance claims in a timely manner.

IMPORTANT: All patients under the age of 18 MUST be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian.

For patients undergoing IV sedation or general anesthesia for surgery, please DO NOT EAT OR DRINK FOR EIGHT (8) HOURS PRIOR TO YOUR SURGERY, NOT EVEN WATER. AVOID SMOKING AND THE USE OF RECREATIONAL DRUGS AT LEAST 48 HOURS PRIOR TO YOUR APPOINTMENT TIME. You will also need an adult to drive you home. We will not release patients to public transportation (Metro, Uber, Lyft, etc.) so please make the necessary arrangements beforehand.

Please alert the office if you have a medical condition that may be of concern prior to surgery (i.e., diabetes, high blood pressure, artificial heart valves and joints, rheumatic fever, etc.) or if you are currently taking any medications (i.e., heart medications, aspirin, anticoagulant therapy, etc.).

X-Rays

If your dentist or physician has taken x-rays you may request that they forward them to our office or you may pick them up and bring them to our office. If additional films are necessary they can be taken at our facility.
