Dr. Harry C Schwartz was born in Los Angeles, and lived in both Brooklyn and Boston while he was a student. He received doctorates in dentistry and medicine from Harvard University. He completed a surgical residency at the Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston. Following his training, Dr. Schwartz moved back to Southern California, where he founded the Maxillofacial Surgery department at Kaiser Permanente Los Angeles Medical Center. For more than 35 years, Dr. Schwartz chaired the department and trained scores of residents from both UCLA and Harbor-UCLA Medical Centers. He ran a fellowship program that provided advanced training to surgeons from throughout the United States, Europe, Asia, and Latin America. He is professor of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery at UCLA, and a fellow of the American College of Surgeons and the American Academy of Cranio-Maxillo-Facial Surgeons. He has authored more than 90 scientific articles and textbook chapters, and has lectured nationally and internationally. Dr. Schwartz is one of the most experienced maxillofacial surgeons in the country, having performed many thousands of cases. He is on the staff of St. John’s Hospital, UCLA Medical Center, and Stanford Hospital. He is married to Mei Ling. They have two grown children and a grandson.
